Paphiopedilums (slipper orchid).

Distinguished by their slipper-shaped pouches, which function by trapping insects so that they are forced to climb up past the staminode, behind which they collect or deposit pollinia.

Attracted by the colors and shape since quite some time ago. First saw and bought it in Cameron Highland. Attemp to keep it alive. But failed. Due to lack of knowledge and humidity. This type of orchid growing under shade. Need high humidity environment like 80%. But can't use the normal garden soil. Suggest to use 80% of Perlite, 10% of spagnum moss and 10% of charcoal or crashed bricks. If you can't get any perlite, then you can try some small stones. It need well drain substrate. The root will melt if the substrate is too wet.

Bought the below 3 recently. Can't wait to take the picture before the flower drying off. Trying with my Olympus MJU 410 under a 11W lighting (at night and indoor). Seem like the result is not good enough. Only a word can be described...BLUR. Ended up borrowed the Canon Ixus 850 from the other half which with image stablizer. Wow... The pictures came out very nice. Although the lighting is not strong enough. But the display on the LCD is blur. And I was mistaken that the picture will come out blur also. After downloaded to my laptop and found out the pictures are very clear.
